Fragrance guide
Understanding fragrance in order to choose better: how a scent is built, concentrations, families, and how to test.
The olfactory pyramid
A fragrance unfolds in three stages. Top notes evaporate first — citrus, mint, bergamot — and last a few minutes. Heart notes follow — flowers, soft spices — and form the character of the fragrance for several hours. Base notes — wood, musk, amber — are the most persistent and fix the fragrance on the skin.
Testing a fragrance
Avoid smelling more than three fragrances in a row: the nose saturates. Spray on a blotter or the wrist, wait a few minutes for the top notes to pass, then judge the heart. The real character appears after about thirty minutes on skin.
Fragrance and skin
A fragrance behaves differently on different skin. Dry skin holds scent for less time; oilier skin extends it. Diet and weather also change how it is perceived.
Choosing with confidence
If you are hesitating between several fragrances, our consultation asks a few questions and suggests fragrances from our selection. It is guidance, never pressure.
